Job Description:

The Pontiac Plant Quality Inspector is responsible to ensure that both raw materials, work in progress and finished products meet all designated quality specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspections of purchased parts, raw materials, semi elaborated products, finished company products and outgoing shipments according to well-defined criteria using standard physical, mechanical and/ or electrical measurements. Verification of quality certificates and checking that everything it is entered in the system (SAP) accurately.
  • Calibration of all instruments involved in measurements of raw material, consumables, and final products.
  • Reject products or parts as required.
  • Count and observe products on loads or shipments to ensure the proper quantity of the proper material is being loaded and is shipped to the correct customer.
  • Checking receiving shipments and ensure that everything meets the designated purchase.
  • Identify defective parts and replace and repair as needed.
  • In coordination with our Melrose Park corporate office, assist in the development of quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analysis; identify critical control points and preventive measures; establish critical limits, develop, and monitor procedures, corrective actions.
  • Communicate to supervisors and managers regarding quality incidences and corrective action, in coordination with our Melrose Park office.
  • Accurately document the results of the inspections and testing in a coordinate manner with our Melrose Park office.
  • Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to supervise in a coordinated manner with our Melrose Park office.
  • Conduct and document process and system audits using written procedures as audit standards in a coordinated manner with our Melrose Park office.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum requirements:

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Be trustworthy and able to work independently while still completing daily tasks.
  • Prior experience in metallurgical industries or processes, warehouse, or factory environment, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of industrial welding processes is preferred.
  • Good arithmetic and measuring skills; attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy.
