Job Description:

The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing all personnel, systems, and warehouse resources required for the effective control and completion of order fulfillment, shipping, inventory management, and transportation coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and overseeing our Pontiac plant’s logistics operations in order to maximize process efficiency and productivity.
  • Conferring with department heads in production, sales, and purchasing to coordinate shipping activities.
  • Establishing and directing all shipping and warehousing functions onsite.
  • Developing procedures to effectively direct and coordinate transportation, storage and distribution activities in accordance with company polices.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of quality products by optimizing distribution and warehouse functions to meet customers’ requirements.
  • Using IT systems such as SAP and Microsoft Excel to manage stock levels, delivery times and warehouse operations performance.
  • Ensuring the raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory are transacted in an accurate and timely manner and stocked in designated locations.
  • Overseeing the transportation of products, stock levels and inventory control, warehousing, and material handling.
  • Compiling and distributing shipping reports detailing order status, distribution plans, and service/shipping cost aspects.
  • Ensuring effective assignment/utilization of resources, maintaining adherence to established policies, processes, and procedures and promoting positive two-way communications on business and department priorities/needs to all employees.
  • Recruiting, mentoring, and supervising the personnel of our Pontiac, IL logistics department.

Minimum requirements:

  • Previous related shipping experience, with experience in a manufacturing company ideal.
  • Hands-on management style. Being present on the floor most of the day while still attending to administrative functions.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities. Must show ability to take and give direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Previous experience with an ERP system required, with SAP preferred
