Job Description:

We are looking to hire Continuous Improvement Engineer, to work out of our Pontiac, IL, factory. We are considering local candidates (Illinois residing) only!!

The Continuous Improvement Engineer role is responsible for reviewing, following, and controlling production plans and to continue to improve the manufacturing processes in order to improve lead times, reduce costs, and improve safety and environmental KPI’s.

Responsibilities:

  • Review daily production plans for all machines and send the daily production reports, reporting various production and machine KPI’s, to corporate office in Melrose Park, IL.  Monitor and evaluate machine performances, ensuring daily goals are met. Meet with Team Leads responsible for underperforming machines and create plans to recover and reach goals.
  • Report and analyze daily consumption of steel per machine.  Perform material planning analyses for steel needed for production.
  • Participate in daily meetings with production leaders to monitor production orders and delivery times, ensuring adherence to set lead times and delivery dates.
  • Act as a liaison between the Production and Maintenance Departments. Use Linx to analyze open maintenance orders and ensure personnel follow plans to improve plant maintenance performance. Analyze machine manuals, maintenance data, and production schedules to create and drive an effective and efficient preventative maintenance program, minimizing interruption of production activities.
  • Assist in decision-making processes for plant expansion and CAPEX plans. Recommend to management optimized solutions for plant layout of equipment, materials or equipment used for production, plant floor processes, and manpower issues.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and plan the study of work problems or procedures. Lead continuous improvement efforts in the plant by supervising projects to install new machine lines, automated existing lines, improve environmental factors affecting health and safety, and reduce steel scrap.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar field of study.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving, adaptability and leadership skills.
  • Personality: Candidates must have integrity, be highly analytical, and have a strong desire to be deeply involved in the business. Candidates must be organized and methodical in their work, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt easily to change. Candidates must be able to preserve through difficult work challenges with the highest degree of dedication. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to interact and communicate effectively with personnel from all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work both in the office and on the plant floor, in hot and cold conditions.
