Job Description:

As part of the Operations team, the Controls Area Manager will be a technical resource for the proprietary Galileo software for Mecalux automation warehouse solutions. This role will support a small team of Controls Engineers that execute the proprietary controls software for warehouse automation projects. As a Controls Team lead, you will oversee the installation, implementation and after sales service of the proprietary software specialized for Mecalux automation warehouse solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Assigns, supervises, and reviews Controls Engineers’ tasks of PLC code programming, HMI’s, customer manuals and progress reports for the development and commissioning of automated warehouse solutions.

  • In conjunction with the Operations Manager, recommends personnel decisions related to hiring, firing, and salary increases.

  • Trains personnel in the propriety Galileo software to configure automated machine’s devices, such as VFDs, operator panels, safety modules and barcode readers.

  • Acts as an internal subject matter expert of the controls software for warehouse automation solutions within the Operations Department.

  • Sets standards of technical tasks and progress reports for the Controls Team to follow during warehouse automation project execution.

  • Assists Project Managers in determining the required resources for warehouse automation projects, including duties and work schedules for Controls Engineers.

  • Initiates and cultivates relationships with contractors for support on the commissioning of controls software in warehouse automation projects.

  • Supervises the overall performance and tasks of Controls Engineers and contracted personnel for the commissioning of the control programs in warehouse automation systems. The tasks include programming, development, simulation, testing and documentation of the implementation and installation process for controls. 

  • Collaborates with Project Managers and clients to ensure the control programs for warehouse automation systems are meeting their requirements and expectations of the project.

  • Provides clients with technical solutions for the standard functionality of Mecalux automated warehouse systems, such as the functionality of the machine, hardware, communication signals exchange and communication network.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (electrical, industrial, or mechanical).

  • At least 5 years of related experience

  • Professional exposure to the field of Industrial Automation.

  • Knowledge of PLC, HMI and SCADA programming preferred.

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams

  • Spanish fluency is ideal

  • Personality: Candidates must be organized and methodical in their work, with the ability to learn quickly and adapt easily to change.  Candidates must be able to persevere through difficult work challenges with the highest degree of dedication.  Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to interact and communicate effectively with personnel from all levels of the organization.  Ability to work under time pressure

  • Able and willing to travel at least 30%
