Finanzauto streamlines the management of its central warehouse with Easy WMS

Finanzauto: Solutions for a wide range of industries

Part of the international Tesya Group, Finanzauto specializes in the sale, rental, and maintenance of construction, public works, and mining equipment, as well as engines for a variety of applications. Founded in 1930, the company employs more than 1,000 people. Since 1963, Finanzauto has been the official distributor in Spain of Caterpillar, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of construction and mining machinery. Finanzauto also markets brands such as Sandvik and Pronar, while offering a broad range of equipment, spare parts, and maintenance services designed to ensure machine performance and durability throughout their lifespan.

Finanzauto’s history is synonymous with evolution. Today, the company is a well-established equipment supplier for industries such as public works, construction, and mining, as well as marine and industrial engines. Its central warehouse in Arganda del Rey (Madrid) — a strategic hub that centralizes the management and global distribution of spare parts for brands such as Caterpillar (CAT), Sandvik, and Pronar — reflects the company’s ongoing transformation.

In response to growth and increasingly demanding operations, Finanzauto completely overhauled its logistics center. “We installed new selective pallet racking and light-duty racks from Mecalux. In addition, we expanded the number of vertical lift modules and removed an old roller conveyor that had started to experience frequent breakdowns and could disrupt our workflows,” says Jorge Escamilla, Head of Spare Parts at Finanzauto.

As part of the facility’s comprehensive modernization, the company also implemented Mecalux’s Easy WMS warehouse management system. Finanzauto had already been using logistics software for more than 25 years, but it had begun to show limitations. “Some processes, such as the cross-docking of spare parts received from suppliers, had to be handled manually,” says Escamilla. “We decided to implement Mecalux’s solution to operate more flexibly and continue providing high-quality logistics service to our clients.”

Control and traceability for spare parts

“Easy WMS oversees every movement in the warehouse and records the locations of each spare part along with the available quantities,” says Escamilla. The Mecalux software tracks 2,000 order lines per day, processing both incoming and outgoing goods. Each line potentially groups several units of the same item.

To ensure uninterrupted operations and maintain precise control over more than 50,000 SKUs in stock, the software has been integrated with the IT systems at Finanzauto’s central warehouse. “Easy WMS communicates continuously with our SAP ERP and with the software used to manage the vertical lift modules,” says Escamilla.

The implementation was prepared to ensure operational continuity and flexible service. For example, the Mecalux software was tailored to meet the requirements of Caterpillar, a manufacturer of construction and mining machinery and equipment. As Caterpillar’s official distributor in Spain, Finanzauto uses Easy WMS to automatically recognize the manufacturer’s codes and generate labels in Caterpillar’s own format during order fulfillment.

Orders for Spain and Portugal

As part of its daily operations, Finanzauto handles a high volume of shipments. In addition to supplying customers throughout Spain, the warehouse also supports Caterpillar’s distributor in Portugal. To achieve this, the logistics software organizes operations by assigning tasks to warehouse associates and requesting the necessary products from the automated vertical lift modules.

“Equipped with RF terminals to scan items, employees move through the facility with carts, filling multiple orders simultaneously. By the time they reach the vertical storage area, the products needed to complete the orders are already waiting there because Easy WMS requested them in advance,” says Escamilla.

In the consolidation area, Finanzauto uses put-to-wall methods to sort shipments by destination and pick-to-pack processes so orders can be placed directly in their final packaging. “Both systems are especially helpful for speeding up the cross-docking of parts received from our suppliers,” says Escamilla.

Thanks to Easy WMS, Finanzauto’s logistics setup has evolved into a scalable model capable of handling higher activity volumes. Integration with the facility’s other IT systems and process automation has optimized day-to-day warehouse operations. “Easy WMS is the brain behind the transformation of our logistics facility.
