Job Description:

Interlake Mecalux, the US subsidiary of Mecalux, S.A., is among the leading companies in the storage systems market specializing in the design, manufacture, sale, and service of warehouse solutions.

This key role is responsible for leading our Maintenance team of skilled maintenance technicians across two shifts.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with plant leadership and corporate engineering staff to improve equipment performance, employee safety, production quality, manufacturing efficiency, operating costs, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness utilizing Continuous Improvement techniques
  • Actively promote best technical practices across the company and develop, report, and analyze key plant/equipment performance indicators as a means to drive and implement operational improvements and enhance equipment performance
  • Lead, specify, and commission capital projects to include project scope, functional acceptance criteria, timeline, and budget constraints to meet stakeholder expectations
  • Manage and complete specific plant engineering projects to improve plant equipment performance, efficiency, product quality
  • Lead and/or participate in the development of PLC programs, HMI programs, and interface software. Includes writing and debugging of programs
  • Lead and/or participate in the troubleshooting of PLC’s and other automatic production systems
  • Analyze equipment failures, determine cause, and ensure the necessary adjustments and repairs
  • Develop and implement effective department-wide policies, processes, and procedures including plant-wide proactive preventative maintenance and asset optimization programs
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain equipment documentation/training aids to include critical equipment operating conditions and parameters. Remains current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation
  • Lead, train, and develop technical resource team with a sense of urgency. Manage external resources and contractors to meet business objectives
  • Manage plant engineering, maintenance, and repair budgets. Maintain accurate spare parts inventory and assure appropriate replenishment processes
  • Ensure a safe work environment through interdepartmental efforts by identifying/driving preventative incident measures/initiatives, by developing and executing safety action plans, and by maintaining diligent housekeeping standards in accordance with Company and regulatory requirements
Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education or experience preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience overseeing a plant engineering or maintenance department within a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Background in steel fabrication or forming. Experience with roll-forming, welding, paint, slitting, and other metal forming equipment preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed based on production and business needs
  • Solid understanding of safe work practices and OSHA requirements
