Camped unassumingly near the center of the ProMat expo showroom, the American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN), designed to serve as the central point of contact coordinating relief efforts of supply chain professionals, could be seen by thousands of trade show attendees organizing, picking, and preparing box after box of non-perishables to be disseminated to disaster victims.
Interlake Mecalux was thrilled to both help with the non-profit's picking and packing efforts, and to build a relationship with an organization aligned with its own dedication to public service and community building.
Picking and packing relief rations is just a small portion of what the organization accomplishes. Kathy Fulton, ALAN's director of operations, reiterated the organization's main function: integrating donations of supply chain expertise, production equipment, transportation use and open warehouse spaces into a unified instrument of national relief. Effectively, ALAN focuses the best distribution professionals in the country toward using their capabilities for a worthwhile cause. Through ALAN's generosity and resourcefulness, supply chain professionals have the unique opportunity to expand past the boundaries of normal business.
ALAN not only encourages the dedication Interlake Mecalux has established toward community service, but also gives it another passageway in which to realize this dedication.
