Controls Engineer - Melrose Park, IL

Job Description:

This role is responsible for the design, development, documentation, programming and commissioning of PLC and PC based control systems in our Melrose Park facility.

 Essential Functions:

-Coordinate projects to ensure all electrical design aspects are completed accurately and according to schedule

-Responsible for complete system electrical hardware design and software development

-Develop physical layout of system, control panels, control stations, schematics, air diagrams, and prepare description of operation with operator responsibilities defined

-Development of PLC programs, HMI programs, and interface software.  Includes writing and debugging of programs

-Troubleshoot PLCs and other automatic production systems

-Analyze equipment failures, determine cause, and make necessary adjustments and repairs

-Responsible for system training at completion of commissioning

-Assume engineering and project management activities including preparation of concise data design, observation and evaluation of controls and hardware based on performance and cost requirements

-Design power supplies for automatic production lines and utilizing PLCs to control the systems

-Drafting and carrying out automatic production line contracts, technical feasibility analysis, floor plan, cost evaluation, and parts list

-Train others to install, use, or maintain robots

Minimum requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

-BSEE or similar engineering degree

-Experience with Allen-Bradley PLC-5, Siemens, SLC-500 and ControlLogix family of -PLC's (RSLogix 5, 500 & 5000 development software)

-Experience with Microsoft Visual Basic, C++, SQL

-Experience with PanelView, RSView and Wonderware HMI's and software

-Skill in electrical schematic development, panel layout development and component specification using AutoCAD and EPLAN software

-Experience in the project management of installation and in the commissioning of electrical control systems
